Maryland-based bluesmen “Red” Jones, or Baltimore Red and his pal Wayne Werner are booked to play an intimate gig at the Havre De Grace Maritime Museum.

ADMISSION: $15 per person

The pair play mostly pre-WWII (old-style) blues – Delta, Piedmont, and ragtime – the root of all American rock and roll. Bottleneck slide, harmonica, vintage lap steels, antique instruments, and amplifiers add to the duo’s gritty sound.

Their performance will take an old-timey approach to the blues craft, in a nod to medicine shows and Holcombe acts of the turn of the century, in what is sure to be an authentic acoustic blues gig.

Over the years, Red and Wayne have played many festivals, and have shared the bill with John Lee Hooker, James Cotton, Koko Taylor, Dave Mason of Traffic, and Mick Taylor of The Rolling Stones. Together, they represent a modern take on the acoustic duo tradition as made popular by acts such as Sonny Terry & Brownie McGhee, as well as Cephas & Wiggins.

Baltimore Red has made two appearances at the National Blues Competition in Memphis. He’s played in front of thousands at festivals nationally, including a 2007 performance at the Southern Comfort Blues Bash in Charleston, SC.
