Natterjacks brings a whole new meaning to the idea of maritime music, combining two retired Pyrates, a former gypsy and a nice Irish girl from a nice Irish family into a lively offbeat trio that showcases music from English, Celtic and Middle Eastern traditions. Their name in itself conjures up a sense of fun: a "natterjack" is a kind of toad. This new group of folk music virtuosos from acclaimed bands The Pyrates Royale (Craig Williams and Darcy Nair), Gypsophilia (Claudia Harrison) and The O’Danny Girls (Lisa Oberg) strives to sound more pleasing to the ear than its namesake. Natterjacks are among the more well-traveled of the amphibians, and the group reflects this with their wide-ranging repertoire. Guitar, violin, hammered dulcimer, concertina, flute, percussion and a chorus of lush vocal harmonies make for a rich and innovative sound.
The concerts are presented to a seated audience inside the museum's air-conditioned building at 100 Lafayette Street in Havre de Grace. Wine and beer are available for sale.
